USAID Women Entreprnuership Development (WED)

USAID/BearingPoint- In 2003, for the first time in Afghanistan, created a women’s handicrafts group of 10, which resulted in Women Entrepreneurship Development (WED). WED started at the Ministry of Commerce of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan with the financial investment of USAID $500,000 for three years. As a result, 350 small businesses were trained in basic business and participated in exhibitions in Afghanistan and abroad. The second office of WED opened in Jalalabad and registered 300 businesswomen from home and trained over 700 women in entrepreneurship.
